And now the Companion Volume: TWO LIVES, TWO WORLD WARS by Lesley Dunlop
Both Ted’s and his father Reginald’s lives and times provide the focus to TWO LIVES, TWO WORLD WARS.
This book by Ted's daughter Lesley Dunlop relates their and their families’ parallel experiences at home, during the two World Wars, as well as the post-war effect.
Reginald’s early home was in Richmond, Surrey where he was born in 1890. Post-World War I, after military service overseas, he settled in Oxhey, where Ted was born in 1920. During World War II, North Wales provided an unexpected catalyst that led to life-saving letters across 5,500 miles. Ted returned home three months after VJ Day and six months after VE Day, thankful to be back in this corner of Hertfordshire that he loved so much.
From the 1950s, Ted contributed much to Watford, Bushey and Oxhey, including 50 years’ dedication to Watford & District Royal Air Forces Association, practical assistance to Watford Council of Youth, the formation of the popular Kings Jazz Club, local history filmmaking with Watford Cine Society and committee work with the Oxhey Village Environment Group, from which stemmed the replacement of the Watford Heath Memorial Cross.
TWO LIVES, TWO WORLD WARS relates Ted's and his father’s life stories.
This book has 337 pages and 239 photographs and illustrations, many in colour.
